Thriving Through Turbulence: The Challenge and Opportunity for Midsize Organizations

April 10, 2025 Scott Blanchard

Leadership today is challenging. Economic turbulence, evolving markets, competitive pressures—there’s plenty to be concerned about. As we navigate through the ups and downs of 2025, the challenges facing our leaders have never been more intense.

So what specific leadership capabilities are required right now?  Managers must excel at:

    • Setting clear, compelling, and emotionally connected goals
    • Keeping momentum going with real-time feedback and reinforcement
    • Redirecting efforts quickly and courageously when needed
    • Communicating consistently and persistently until clarity sticks

Leadership is about being persistent and practical. It’s about helping people stay focused on what matters, giving feedback that fuels performance, and creating an environment where people feel seen, trusted, and supported.

The Challenge and Opportunity for Midsize Organizations

Later this month I’m conducting a webinar where we will specifically look at the challenges and opportunities midsize businesses face.

Midsize organizations find themselves in a unique position—while larger companies often have additional resources, they also grapple with the complexities of tens of thousands of managers. Midsize companies—think hundreds of managers instead of thousands—can rapidly align their leadership teams.

In all cases, leadership is the linchpin for engagement and performance.  A prepared, trustworthy, and focused manager serves as the north star for every single employee. When this critical link breaks, your team is effectively cut off from the collective energy and potential of the organization.

That's part of what I’ll be covering in the webinar. (Here’s more info from the session description.)
